Ribble used a fleet of low height ECW bodied Bristol VRTSL6G to intoduce one man operation with fareboxes to Carlisle town services in 1971. 1979, NCK979J, was the first of the batch.
In 1983 it was sold to Crosville where it became DVG569. While in their service it was painted in the red and yellow Bus Gwynedd livery that it wears here to denote supported services run in conjunction with Gweynedd council. When photographed in 1991 the bus was in use as staff transport for bed manufacturer Silentnight in Barnoldswick,
