Seen here in Waterloo Road Coach Park, opposite the Old Vic Theatre, is Duple Vista bodied Bedford OB LWT825.
According to PSV Circle publications this vehicle began its life registered LYB125, when new, in October 1949 to BJ Chinn (English Rose Coaches), Wincanton and was re-registered LWT825 in June 1952 when it was acquired by Alfred Hymas Ltd, Burton Leonard (Alfred Hymas (Ripon) Ltd, Ripon from June 1960), who ran it until January 1963. In May 1963 it passed to H Cawthorne (Majestic Coaches), Darton, who had withdrawn it 'by March 1970' (I would suggest 'by November 1969' would be more accurate as it doesn't look likely that it was still theirs on the date of the photo, particularly with its roof rack!). It is then recorded as being acquired by Ellers High School, Doncaster 'around November 1971'. Of course, it may simply be that the school had had it from November 1969 or thereabouts. Any further information on reason for the re-registration in 1952 or the later years of its life would be welcomed.
