Preserved former Aldershot & District 543, MOR581, an A.E.C. MU3RV Reliance with an MCW B40F body which had been fitted in January 1967, replacing the Strachans C41C body which it had when new in August 1954.

Vintage Yellow Buses Ltd Atlantean ERV251D, seen here giving city tours in Bath on a sunny January day. It was new in July 1966 as Portsmouth 251, a Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 with MCW H43/33F body, passed to Southdown in 1990, to Cumberland a year later, then via Abacus (Cardiff) to its current owner in Sept 1996.

When London Transport decided Daimler Fleetlines did not suit its needs, and decided to dispose of them after only a few years, many other operators seized the opportunity both to buy modern buses at a fraction of the price of a new one and to avoid long and uncertain lead times for delivery. One such operator was Hornsby's of Ashby, Scunthorpe. When this picture was taken at their premises in April 1983, KUC972P looked to have only recently been acquired.
