New in June 1951 as Silcox number 5, NDE332 was a Bristol L5G with a Silcox FDP39F body. In June 1961 it was fitted with a new Marshall FDP39F body.

Seen at the garage in Pembroke Dock is Silcox 5, NDE332, a Bristol L5G which had been new in June 1951 with a Silcox FDP39F body (according to the P.S.V. Circle Fleet History) although NDE 330/1 (L5G) had Silcox DP39F bodies and NDE 616 (LL5G) had a Silcox DP41F body. In June 1961 NDE332 received a new Marshall FDP39F body and is seen here at the garage.

During 1976 Northern General had a vehicle shortage that resulted in the loan of a handful of buses from Southdown. One of these, Southdown 112, 112CUF, is seen in Sunderland bus station ready to depart for Consett. 112 is a Leyland Leopard PSU3/1 with Marshall B45F bodywork new to Southdown in 1963.

Birmingham became the first operator to run single deck Daimler Fleetlines when it took delivery of a batch with Marshall bodywork in 1965. Seen here is 3472, BON472C. The body seated 37 which was much lower than later examples which were designed as single deckers from the off rather than adapted double deck chassis as is the case here. Later examples would have the engine enclosed and be designated SRG (for Saloon rear Gardener) rather than the CRG of the double deck chassis.

Bedford VAS1 DCG631C has just arrived with me, it was new in December 1965 to Winn (Sportsman Coaches) of Whiston with military-style Marshall B30F body and purchased in May 1970.

This Marshall bodied Leyland Panther PSUR1B/1R TDV217J was ordered by Exeter Corporation but delivered to Devon General as their 217 following the take over of the Devon municipal in 1970. It was acting as a sales stand at the Dorchester Rally in August 2015. Prior to preservation it was a publicity vehicle for Western National and may be the only Panther to run for First Bus.

Yorkshire Traction 529, CHE529K, leaving Halifax old bus station on the erstwhile express X68 service to Sheffield. 529 was a Leyland Leopard PSU4B/4R with Marshall body new in 1971/2. Although this service was supposed to be an express, the bus was always ready for its next "7-year" by the time it got back.

The second "surprise vehicle" at the Ensignbus vintage running day was St. Helens single decker 248 EDJ248J, which worked the X86 during the afternoon and is seen here at Brentwood High Street. This is understood to have been disposed of by its preservationist owner and is now part of the Ensign sales stock, but can be used by the vintage fleet if required.

Western National 1253, VOD123K, was one of the unusual Marshall B33F-bodied Bristol LHS6Ls which were purchased in February 1972 in order to cope with the narrow Cornish lanes. It is seen here outside Land's End outstation. Service 501 between Penzance and Land's End, whilst including the steep descent to Sennen Cove, reversal and back up, didn't require such a small vehicle and was sometimes worked by full-size 'deckers.
