VNL588, seen at Wembley, was a Bedford SB5 with a Duple Super Vega C41F body, which had become 1117 in the Barton, Nottingham fleet in January 1969 on acquisition from the executors of Harris (Majestic), Leicester.
It had been new in February 1962 to Lowther, Wallsend, passing to Harris in February 1965. Barton withdrew it in 1972, and it passed to Bowers, Aberkenfig in September 1972. From there it went to Lansbury Park Lancers Jazz Band, Caerphilly in July 1978, and to Athanaires Jazz Band, S. Athans by August 1981. It had passed, by September 1981, to Barry Showbirds Jazz Band, Barry, then to Harbour Royals Jazz Band, Penarth by June 1983, and was wrecked in September 1983.
