Hanson AEC Reliance rebuild 389, ECX886C with Roe B41F body.
389 started life in 1955 as AEC Reliance MU3RV665 KCX124 with a Plaxton Venturer III C41C body, 344 in the Hanson coach fleet.
Withdrawn in late 1964 it reappeared in in April 1965 as 389 with Hanson chassis no. 6688 and new Roe body GO6068.
Just to discount the rumours that Hanson's never carried out anything other than brake maintenance, 389 is seen over the pits at Hanson's St. John's Road depot with various mechanical bits scattered around.
I remember speaking to drivers at the time and they were all of the opinion that the fleet were subject to minimum maintenance standards unless it was a brake fault, when maintenance was rigorously carried out.
It was a well known fact that if a driver rang a fault in, say a funny noise or vibration, or the brake bands were slipping in the pre-select gearboxes the reply was "Let it develop, lad"
