Hanson AEC Regent rebuild 349, MVH837 with Roe H37/28R body dating from December 1957.
349 had been new in 1948 as AEC Regal III Duple C35F DVH312, fleetnumber 245. It was modernised in 1953 with the fitting of a Plaxton Venturer style full front and the bulkhead removed and was renumbered 325. Withdrawn 10/56 the body was scrapped and the chassis rebuilt using new chassis frames and various other components although most of the running units were reused in the rebuild. Fitted with a new Roe H37/28R body it re-entered service in December 1957 as 349 and passed with the rest of the Hanson stage carriage business to Huddersfield Corporation on 1/10/69.
The photo is taken in the dying days of Hanson's stage carriage services, possibly the final day 30/9/69. The conductor and driver are surrounded by a motley crew of enthusiasts including David Haigh, the conductor and driver, a youthful Eric Bawden and my best friend Alan Dyson.
