Blackpool 700 (formerly 226, then 237) was the prototype open-top "Luxury Dreadnought" car built by English Electric in 1934 ordered by forward-thinking GM Walter Luff. It received a top cover in 1942.
Over the years, it has worn countless liveries, both corporate and commercial, including the recent light rail purple and white (as seen on Ken Jones' view in 2012). This view shows it back in its more traditional wartime green and cream livery, with the "B-fleet" modified centre doors to allow step-less loading at light rail stops. Its repaint even includes the legal lettering "Blackpool Corporation Transport, Walter Luff, General Manager, Blundell Street, Blackpool" to add to its heritage status.
