YG624 was new in June 1932 to West Yorkshire Road Car, no. 439, and carried an Eastern Counties L26/26R body. Originally petrol engined, it was converted to diesel with the fitting of a Gardner 5LW in 1937 and in 1945 it was refurbished by Eastern Coachworks and in the process was fitted with a postwar Tilling style 2 piece roller blind display at the front.
Withdrawn in 1948 it was converted to become the company's tree lopper, by the simple means of removing the roof, as can be seen. It was painted Tilling green, like most of the West Yorkshire service stock. During the winter it carried out snowplough duties at Harrogate Bus Station and Grove Park depot. In addition, the two vertical guides above the number plate were to accommodate an "L" plate so that it could undertake driver training duties. Note the absence of tread on either of the front tyres, and the broken cab side window.
Withdrawn at the end of October 1959 it was quickly sold to Fleet Car (Sales), dealer, Dunchurch, and was doubtless scrapped shortly afterwards. It was replaced by a converted 1937 Bristol K5G, BWY991.
