KHY383 is a Bristol L6B, new to Bristol Tramways & Carriage in 1948, numbered 2382, with an ECW DP31R body. It was converted to B35R in April 1954 and in November 1958 was rebodied with the 1950 Bristol (BBW) B35R body off Bristol JO6A 2205.
Withdrawn in 1965 it passed to Norths, dealer, Sherburn in April 1965, and then to Ireland, Contractor, Bath, in the same month (probably without even making the long return journey to Sherburn). It entered preservation in 1971 and since then has had a variety of owners. This is another of my colour slides that I failed to index, so I've no idea when or where this view was taken. I recall the vehicle being kept near one of my own vehicles, on a farm near Ripon for a time in the early 1980s, when owned by a Scarborough enthusiast but this view was taken somewhere in the South or South West. Here it is in bus livery, as would be expected for a bus seated L6B, but there are a couple of photographs on Gerry Tormey's excellent Bristol L type history site, taken in 1978 and 2012, showing it in a DP-type predominantly cream livery with green relief, which suggests my photo may have been earlier, dating from the 1970s. And, finally, regrettably I have no record of the identity of the ex Bristol KSW behind, which may (or may not) have also been in preservation when the photo was taken.
