Portsmouth had this green Daimler CVG6/Willowbrook H37/29RD demonstrator, SDU711, on loan from Daimler from 12 May to 19 May 1956.
After its demonstration duties, it passed to Samuel Ledgard and there are photos on sct61 with Sammy. In this Eric Surfleet photo from Roger's Collection it is seen on Arundel Street, Portsmouth. As was usual with Portsmouth, the use of a demonstrator did not have much effect on future orders - the next order was for Metro-Cammell bodied Leyland PD2/40s delivered in 1958.
Looking on Google maps, Arundel Street seems to have been largely redeveloped in the intervening 60 plus years, but the building with the big bird on the corner is pretty distinctive - any old Portsmouth residents able to pin down the location? Some more cars to be identified as well. So - over to you chaps.
