Portsmouth took delivery of 10 Leyland PSUC1/1 / Weymann B34D numbered 16 to 25 in 9/59.
Their entry into service was not immediate as problems relating to the operation of one-man-operated buses had to be resolved first. They had arrived with red roofs which were repainted white whilst they were in store at Eastney. They eventually entered service in May 1960, when the first of the batch 16, TTP990, is seen newly into service (sans conductor) at Cosham Railway Station.
Almost immediately they were all reseated to B32D in June 1960 to provide more luggage space - a problem that did not apparently affect the 1961 L1 Leopards which had B42D bodies
