Yorkshire Traction 791, YHE240, a Leyland Tiger PS2/5 with Northern Counties H35/28F body.
New to Yorkshire Woollen District in 1950 as their 701, HD8555, it originally had a Willowbrook B32F body. Lengthened and converted to B38F by Willowbrook in 1955 it was withdrawn in 1962 and sold to Yorkshire Traction who had the body scrapped by Hoyle's of Wombwell, the mechanical units overhauled and installed into new PD2 chassis frames, and then rebodied by Northern Counties as the double decker seen here. First numbered 1240, YTC renumbered it to 791 in 1967. It was withdrawn in 1972, passing to Paul Sykes (dealer), Barnsley 7/72, A.G. Smith, Patna 9/72 and was finally withdrawn by them by 1982.
This was one of nine ex-YWD Tigers that passed to YTC in this way, whilst six of the same batch were similarly treated by YWD themselves, but fitted with Roe bodies. YTC managed to get the Barnsley motor taxation department to issue new registration numbers for theirs, but the Dewsbury office must have had different ideas and the YWD ones retained their original numbers.
