Blackpool 'Balloon' car 704 was originally numbered 241 when new in September 1934. It was one of 13 built in 1934 as open-top and known as 'Luxury Dreadnoughts', as they replaced the 'Dreadnoughts' on the Promenade service.
They were enclosed by the Corporation between August 1941 and June 1942, becoming known as 'Balloons'.
