This gallery has been set up in memory of Eric Thompson who sadly passed away in November 2004 aged only 57.
Although Eric was brought up in Holbrook, just outside Ipswich in Eastern Counties territory, as a child he was always impressed with the green Eastern National buses that used to run from Clacton to Ipswich on the 123 and this led to a lifelong interest in Eastern National. He became an early member of the Eastern National (now Essex Buses) Enthusiasts Group as well as a member of the Ipswich Transport Society. In 1971 he started taking colour slides of buses, switching to prints at the end of the eighties. Although not prolific by today's standards with digital photography, Eric built up a good collection over the years.
One thing that Eric was keen on was that his lifetime's photography didn't go to waste and that other people would get enjoyment from it. Eric left his collection to his good friend Adam Kelleher who he first met at an ENEG meeting in 1975 and Adam, who has been a fan of the sct61 website since it started in 1999, thought that this would be a good medium for Eric's photos to be seen by a wider audience. So, over the coming months (years!), he will be scanning Eric's slides and we will then add them to this gallery.
Adam hopes that viewers will get as much enjoyment from seeing them as Eric did from taking the photos.
