In 1937 sixteen A.E.C. O662 Regals entered service with Western/Southern National. Registered ETA 976-983, 992-999 they carried Mumford C31F bodies and were Western National 1050-1057 and Southern National 1058-1065.
In 1949 they were rebodied with Beadle C31F bodies, with the exception of 1062 which had been rebodied in 1941 with a Duple C31F body. 1062 was withdrawn in 1956 and became a racing car transporter with Halford, Torquay. The others were withdrawn in 1957, passing to Comberhill (dealer), Wakefield.
ETA978, seen here negotiating the roundabout at the bottom of Eastgate in Leeds, was one of four which passed to Holst (Contractor), Leeds. The gaps in the railings on the roundabout are to allow access/egress for vehicles using the Rowland Winn filling station in its centre.
