One of the Dodge single deckers, No.2, DHJ378, rebuilt by the Corporation from ex-Canadian Air Force vehicles, in Victoria Avenue in July 1955.
It is heading north, but the destination blind "RELIEF" gives no idea of where it was going! It may, in fact, not have been in service, but waiting to work a school contract, a frequent duty for these vehicles.
One of the rebodied utility Daimlers (probably 233) waits at the next stop on a Western Circular. Note the partially dismantled trolleybus overhead to the left of the double decker, also the distinctive building then used as Southend Municipal College on the right.
