HD7908 was a Leyland Tiger PS1 with Brush B34F body, one of a huge batch of seventy-five new in 1948 to Yorkshire Wollen, in which fleet it became 625.
It was one of six of the type loaned to North Western in the summer of 1953 and also one of twenty-three of the batch to be withdrawn as early as 1955. Five of these passed through Millburn Motors to Jones of Aberbeeg and were numbered 70-74, this one becoming 73 in October 1955. It was withdrawn in 1960 and passed to Contract Bus Services, Llanwern in March 1960. Withdrawn by them in August 1961 it passed to Way, Cardiff for scrap the same month.
In front of the PS1 is Western Welsh Olympian 1215, LKG215 - identifiable as this integral vehicle, like the similar Tiger Cub, had a fuel tank behind the rear axle and the fleet number is above the filler. Newport used to have many bus terminating points, the Corporation used their own bus station at Dock Street whilst Red & White and Western Welsh used various street locations around the town until their bus station opened in 1959, confusingly also on Dock Street. This view predates that bus station and was on a plot of land adjacent. Western Welsh called it Kingsway, Red & White referred to it as Capitol Car Park. Jones just called it Newport! Note the apostrophe in the fleetname.
