On a sunny day (probably in 1974) in Locking Road Coach Park, Weston-super-Mare, we have Frank Applegates (of Newport, Gloucestershire) first coach YDG1, a 1960 AEC Reliance/Plaxton Consort IV C41C which he acquired from Brian Beavis of Bussage in June 1969. It is still carries Beavis' livery.
YDG1 stayed with Frank Applegate until he sold out to Ladvale Cheltenham in 1/76; at the time Ladvale seemed to be buying up much of Gloucestershire. Ladvale kept this fine coach until 9/76, it not being traced further. Ladvale contracted almost as quickly as it had expanded - Frank Applegate restarted in Wootton-under-Edge 9/80, moving back to his former Heathfield Garage at Newport once Ladvale had vacated it in 10/80. Applegates are very much still with us.
