VWY841L was a Ford R226 with Duple C53F body new in 1973 to Baddeley Bros. Holmfirth as their 114.
One of three Ford R226 with Duple bodies and, along with two Bedford YRQs with Plaxton C45F bodies, fleetnumbers 112-4, VWY 843-1L and 115/6 VWY 844-5L respectively, these five coaches proved to be the last vehicles purchased by the independent Baddeley concern.
The three Fords passed with the Baddeley business to West Yorkshire PTE in March 1976, although the PTE continued to operate Baddeley Bros. as a subsidiary retaining the tradition livery and fleetname.
My photo shows VWY841L when owned by Baldry of Holme.
Whilst I have a vague memory of coming across a Baddeley Ford with subsequent owner but still in Baddeley livery, I had no idea I had taken a photo of it until I found this shot while sorting out some old photos.
The trouble is I have no idea where or when I took the shot. In fact I don't even know which Holme Baldry operated from.
Something in the back of my mind niggles that I may have seen it in Selby so I wonder if the Holme is Holme on Spalding Moor, but that is only a stab in the dark.
If anyone can provide further information about Baldry of Holme, their wherabouts and their operation of VWY841L I would be most grateful.
