Park Coachways of West Vale near Halifax UTE746, a Bedford SBG with Duple Super Vega C38F body, new in 1955.
Park Coachways - owned by the Pitchforth family - ran around half a dozen coaches at any one time - generally of Bedford manufacture - some bought new and in their own light grey and red livery, others acquired secondhand and often left in their previous owner's livery if they looked smart enough - former Grey de Luxe of Hull ones were popular and still looked particularly good. Most were used during the week on works and local schools jobs - especially trips to swimming baths from schools in the Elland, Greetland and Stainland areas - and on the odd general private hires in the evenings and at weekends.
UTE 746 was a little older than the rest of the fleet when acquired in May 1971 from a dealer, having previously been with Beadle's of Newport. It was withdrawn in June 1973 and used for spares.
The company sold the business to Central Coaches, t/a Glenway, of nearby Ripponden a few years later.
