JD Peace, Kirkwall, Orkney, SSA474, a Bedford SB1 built 1960 with Duple Super Vega C39F bodywork. Peace used two liveries, blue and maroon and red and cream, as can be seen on this shot.
SSA474 was one of nine (SSA467-475); five Ford 570E & four Bedford SB1 new to Simpson, Rosehearty in 1960 as C41F. Seven (SSA 467/9-74) passed to Alexander (Northern) when Simpson was acquired in December 1966 and SSA474 was numbered NW268. All seven in turn passed to Highland in December 1967 when SSA474 was numbered CD25 and subsequently passed to Peace in May 1973 after withdrawal by Highland. The seating was reduced from 41 to 39, along with the fitting of front destination blinds and fitting for one-man operation before entry to service with Highland.
