Starks of Dunbar was taken over by SMT in 1964 but its fleet was closely associated with the larger company. St Andrew's Square bus station was open air, but behind the buses are the cranes about to start on the St James Centre and eventual covering over of the stances with an office block. SS9615 (SMT -B39) was an AEC Reliance built 1955 with Alexander B45F body, still with Stark's fleetname and livery, a deliberate attempt to give the air of a still independent company. The SMT inspector is wearing his white hat cover in this August view. I wonder if the alighting gent made it onto the pavement.
