Lloyds of Nuneaton PEH479 seen outside their Rugby depot in 1962, a Leyland TS8 Beadle rebuild from 1951 and former PMT C479 that was with Lloyds from July 1958 and was withdrawn in May 1962.
The metal plate on the nearside screen is the destination indicator covers the Lloyds stage route and shows Rugby, Hillmorton, Kilsby and Barby. My memory tells me this was red lettering on a white background.
Rugby had three of these in Rugby in early 1962; PEH471, PEH472, and PEH479. They had different liveries with 471 being 50/50 blue/cream, 472 overall cream and 479 being overall blue.
Double deckers crept in on the Barby route at peak times and one that was observed was FOF235, a 1939 Daimler COG5 with 1946 Brush H54R body ex Birmingham 1235 which was with Lloyds from April 1961 to August 1963 but left the Rugby depot in March 1962.
