Sutherland Transport & Trading Company NS5024, a Bedford VAS with SMT B16FM bodywork, stands alongside the southbound station buildings at Lairg.
After the departure of the northbound train from Inverness to Wick/Thurso, it will reverse over the tracks to pick up mail and parcels which will then be taken down to Lairg village; there they will be sorted onto the appropriate bus for far-flung destinations on the coast of Sutherland.
