JBW527D is a C45F Duple Bella Venture bodied Bedford VAM3 that was new to Jack Hambridge of Kidlington on 17/6/66 and is believed to now be the only one of its kind still in a roadworthy condition.
As you'll know the VAM3 variant was petrol-engined and averaged only about 7-8 mpg and JBW527D was quickly sold on to Cook's Coaches of Hastings in 12/67 via dealer Barnard and Barnard. Cook's business was bought by Brian Gain in 1983 and in 1986 relocated premises in Westfield and JBW527D operated in cream with blue band. In 1989 the coach was bought by Boulton's Coaches of Cardington, Shropshire for school duties and as back-up for its heritage services, operating in cream with a maroon band. In 2000 it passed to Chris Elmes of Pontesbury for preservation and was repainted to again have a blue band. Chris is self-employed with WJT Swain's Coaches of Minsterley and regularly rallies the coach.
JBW527D was hired by the Hambridge family (original owner) for wedding duties in 12/2016.
