A vintage rally photograph which I hope will be of interest. It is taken, I believe, on a London to Brighton Run sometime in the 1960s and is interesting as much for the other vehicles as the main subject. More information would be welcome on locations and dates.
The main subject here is Valliant Direct Gilford 168OT GW713 fitted with a Weymann C30D body. This ended up in the Science Museum collection at Wroughton and following years of storage by an organisation with all the skills required to archive exhibits carefully, has now moved on to the son of the original owner for restoration!
The vehicle passing would not have attracted much attention at the time but is GXG116, a Bedford SBG with Plaxton C41F body new to Ward, Middlesbrough. It seems to have moved down South as there is a single photo of it on Flickr which is also taken at Brighton.
Photo taken by unknown photographer, from an original in the David Beilby collection
