Seen at Gilwell Park is CEK587D of Davies, Tredegar carrying a Royal Tiger badge. This had started life as a Leyland EL2/44 Olympic with Metro-Cammell body destined for Cuba but the ship carrying this and forty-one others came to grief in the Thames in October 1964. Some of the Olympics were recovered and the running units of two of them were fitted to Van Hool C44C bodies in April 1966 to become CEK587/8D of Smith, Wigan retaining left-hand drive.
These were the first Van Hool bodies in this country, the next ones not arriving until 1971.
