On Fridays (Redruth Market Day) Trelawney Tours (J C Pollard) of Hayle operated twice-daily between Redruth and Perranwell using a rather circuitous route. BCO218B, a Plaxton Embassy III bodied Bedford SB5, is awaiting its next departure from Redruth. This vehicle had been new in May 1964 to the Embankment Motor Company of Plymouth from whom it was acquired in 1971.
Embankment were a long-established company who gave up stage-carriage operation as early as 1933 in order to concentrate on excursions and tours. Embankment were taken over by Wallace Arnold (Devon) in 1974 although their name was retained until May 1977.
One of the many delights of Cornwall is the unique names of many of the villages and hamlets. The Redruth-Perranwell service passed through a fine selection - Lanner, Comford, Burncoose or Sunny Corner, Pulla Cross, Frogpool, Cusgarne, Bissoe and Coldwind.
