Resting in Burwell near the garage between trips to Cambridge is 9DER, Burwell & District's first Fleetline. new to them in August 1963.
It is reputed that after a demonstration by 7000HP, they were promised fellow demonstrator 4559VC which had a Northern Counties body - unfortunately it had also been promised to Proctors of Hanley by another salesman. The upshot was that B & D were supplied with a brand new unregistered demonstrator with a Willowbrook H75F body. Unfortunately it failed its tilt test and had 2 seats removed from the top deck.
Despite these snags, B&D liked it enough to buy another Willowbrook bodied Fleetline in 1965 (DEB484C) which looked (to me at least) exactly like the 1965 batch supplied to Coventry after their brief and controversial flirtation with Atlanteans.
Photographed the same day as HHF10. Judging by the washing on the line, it may have been a Monday!
