United BGH1, SHN710, was the first Bristol KSW5G with ECW H32/28R body new in 1953. Like all the highbridge KSWs it gained the more powerful Bristol engine after a few years, in this case as BBH61 in 10/59.
This puzzled us Ian Allan BBF10 owners as we didn't know the reason some were out of order....
Further renumbering took it to BH61 then just 79. However the new National Bus Company (presumably) inspired an unusual retirement as Yorkshire Woollen District 164 for exactly one year of service from October 1969. With full YWD fleetname it was thus the subject of the first of two slides taken on a dull weather West Riding of Yorkshire tour on 28 July 1970, having carried us on the M route from Dewsbury Bus Station to the Crown Hotel.
