Yorkshire Traction 799, YHE248, was originally numbered 1248 and was numerically the last of nine former Yorkshire Woollen District Leyland Tiger PS2s rebuilt with Northern Counties H35/28F bodies in 1963.
It features an advert for a long-lost local brewery, closed by John Smith's in the seventies but fondly-remembered and twice resurrected by smaller brewers. It was located at Oakwell near the football ground.
This was my first solo drive after passing my test and the only one I made in the rather unusual car I used for the test, a Ford Cortina 1600E. That was replaced the following Monday by a very sweet-running Triumph 2000 Mark II with overdrive.
