West Yorkshire had one of the two prototype Lodekkas and DX1, JWT712, is seen here working a Harrogate local service. The chassis was an LDX6B and it carried an ECW H33/25R body. When new it was numbered 822 and the bumper was polished, not painted.
Behind is Bristol LS5G SUG 7 (MWY218) which later became SMG 7. Originally all the LS vehicles were numbered in an EUG (DP) or SUG (bus) series but it was later decided to renumber the 45 seat buses with an SMG prefix, whilst the 41-seat dual-purpose examples were downgraded as buses and became SUG. The later MW buses took the vacant SMG-series numbers which caused some confusion when the LS dual-purpose vehicles were re-seated and had to be renumbered!
