The first nine AEC Regent IIIs (0961001-009) were delivered to West Riding and 61, AHL656, was one of these delivered in 1946 as additions to the tram replacement fleet. Initially in red livery if was painted into the green livery by December 1954 and repainted back to the red livery in August 1957.
This shot in Leeds Bus Station shows it on the hourly Leeds to Sheffield service operated jointly with the Sheffield 'C' fleet and Yorkshire Traction. This shot also shows the twin staircase arrangement on all these Roe H28/22C centre entrance vehicles. Of the later batches on provincial style chassis 81-86, BHL337-342, were delivered in green livery in 1948 and were repainted red between June and December 1956, whilst 1949 deliveries 114-117, BHL902-905, were painted green in 1961, remaining green until withdrawn in 1963.
