M.V Cowal entered service in 1953 as a side loading/unloading car ferry for the Caledonian Steam Packet Company. The car deck was provided with a turntable to allow cars to be manoeuvred into the limited space. Coaches such as VUB388H, Leyland Leopard PSU4A/4R with Plaxton C43F were carried between the ramps and were last on /first off at their destination.
Clyde ferries had a destination board for intending passengers and in this case I am assuming the Wallace Arnold coach is disembarking at a very wet Rothesay!
