Wallace Arnold (Feather Brothers) AEC Reliance/Plaxton 9196NW new in 1959.
Admittedly a very poor photo but one which means a lot to me as it was taken at the end of my first very exhausting day as the driver of a full week's tour - this being from Bradford to Sandown in the Isle of Wight. The vehicle is particularly interesting as being one of the very last to be supplied new (within a larger batch of WA coaches) and yet painted in the traditional colours of a recently acquired operator. The pleasing livery is the mid blue and silver of Feather Brothers of Bradford. I had just transferred the passengers onto the very last ferry of the day to the IOW at Portsmouth Hard - in the panic contravening a strict weight limit on the pier. Now I had to find the overnight garage at Lymington for the coach, and bed and breakfast for myself - quite an initiation into tour driving.
