Wallace Arnold Leyland Leopard/ Plaxton 109EUA of 1963 on a half day excursion to Ripon and Fountains Abbey.
These handsome and comfortable machines were the second batch of 36 foot Leyland Leopards and the first coaches with this style of Plaxton body. The seating cloth was also changed from the previous rich warm red to a rather harsher grey and mustard material which was not popular. For a leading manufacturer Leyland were remiss in still fitting a wide ratio four speed gearbox to such a heavy vehicle - this feature definitely impeded their otherwise impressive performance, especially on hills.
