HDV639E, a Bristol MW6G with ECW C39F body was Western National 1434. When the long distance coach services were de-regulated in 1980, several companies began competing with existing operators. Ann Gloag with her brother Brian Souter and her ex-husband David started services under the name of Gloagtrotter, using a variety of vehicles.
"1434" is in Parliamentary Road (long gone). The white painted section on the traction pole indicated an insulator in the tram overhead, and still there 22 years after the trams were withdrawn from this road. Gloagtrotter went on to greater things and the rest is history ....
