Wigan bought exposed radiator Leyland Titan PD2s before switching to Atlanteans at the end of the 1960s. The 1967 Titans with Northern Counties would be the last ones bought - seen here is 78, DEK6E, a Leyland Titan PD2/37 with attractive 64 seat Northern Counties bodywork.
The bus is seen in Wigan bus station waiting to depart to Wrightington Hospital. The 343 was a joint service with Ribble although in reality each operator worked two different services. The Ribble version of the route passing under a low bridge which meant they used single deckers. Although by the time the picture was taken Wigan had become part of GMT, the only clue to this was the white fleet number on the front dash
