Wilts and Dorset double-decker 441, JO5401, an AEC Regent with Brush body new to City of Oxford MS in 1932. It was acquired by Venture Ltd of Basingstoke in 1940, by which time it had been rebodied with a Park Royal body and bore the Fleet No. 41. In 1948 it was rebodied again, this time with a 1945 East Lancs body. Venture was by this time part of the Red & White group, which sold its bus interests to the BTC in 1950. Venture was put under the control of, and in 1951 taken over by, Wilts & Dorset, and JO5401 became W&D 441. It was sold for scrap in November 1954.
JO5401 is seen here, working on route 9 to Alresford, in Basingstoke at the 'Barge' where most services terminated and turned round the 'roundabout' created by the Gents WC which was in the middle of the junction just to the left of the photo. In the background is the factory of Wallis & Stevens, the steam roller builders.
