United Automobile 482, EHN482C, a Bristol Lodekka FLF6B with ECW H38/32F body, new (as L182) in 1965.
Not exactly the right moment for sand castles on the beach or a quick paddle. Who would believe that this was the August of one of the driest years in recent times, and not the onset of winter ? United's Lodekka also struggles to attract much custom for a trundle round the headland to the South Bay.
FLF's may have been fine buses, but such familiar, bog standard vehicles somehow lacked the unique appeal of the 'Queen Mary' seafront Bristol L's of my childhood.
The North Bay's once most prestigious hotel - The Clifton - standing prominently in the background on Queens Parade nowadays appears to be run down and struggling to keep going.
