At 0625 on Monday October 6, 1980, Leopard/Duple 206, BTE 206V, prepares to leave Southend Bus Station on the inaugural X1 journey to Reading. Sadly it only got as far as Chalkwell Park, failing with a leaking door air valve! It was substituted by 202 for the remainder of the 3¾ hour journey.
