In common with other vehicles purchased for the coach fleet, Leyland Leopard UTD203T, Southend Transport 203, was often employed on local, low-frequency rural scheduled services, such as here on route 12 to Wallasea Island via Stambridge and Canewdon. At Wallasea it connected with the privately-run boat ferry to Burnham-on-Crouch.
UTD203T was the first of a batch of six Leyland Leopard PSU3E/4RT with Duple C51F bodywork. It was built and delivered in 1978 and later saw service on the X1 and related express services from Southend to London.
