The final day of Southend PD3 operation (and - as it was thought at the time - of half cab buses on Southend Transport - RM operation would have been dismissed as utterly fanciful at that time!) was July 31st, 1981. 347, MHJ347F, was rostered to a number of duties normally worked by Fleetlines and is seen here at the Landwick terminus of the 4.
Photography here would normally result in an immediate arrest by the MoD Police, but special permission had been given, provided cameras were pointed away from the sensitive MoD lands leading to Foulness!
