Southend PD3 346, MHJ346F, is seen parked up at the Tickfield Avenue works on July 31st, 1977, awaiting repairs after a minor fire at the rear of the top deck - note the missing windows and blackened interior.
The shot was taken from the road outside the works, through the wire mesh fence, hence the black lines on the left of the picture. With today’s computer technology, it would of course be possible to remove them, but we think the picture as originally taken has more atmosphere!
