Southend Corporation Transport 336, CJN436C, a Leyland PD3/6 with Massey H38/32R bodywork, seen shortly after delivery in 1965.
Twelve of these rather attractive buses arrived in 1965. The red steering wheel indicated to staff that they were true highbridge buses and with high backed seats they were comfortable machines to ride on. Despite having the same mechanical specification as the 1958 PD3's, these buses lacked that 'little bit extra' of their earlier fleet colleagues but proved popular with the platform staff. Apart from settling down on the long 3/3A Shoeburyness to Canvey services, they found a regular home on the newer 29 service linking Pier Hill with Eastwood(Belgrave Road).
