One of Southend's 1937 AEC Regent/English Electric double deckers, 210, JN9530, stands in London Road at Victoria Circus on its way to Lifstan Way on route 25D in January 1955.
The vehicle has the type of indicator box fitted towards the end of the war in connection with the introduction of route numbers in 1949. As built this bus would have had two single line indicators side by side, as on trolleybuses 117/8.
The 25 group of routes was nominally joint with Westcliff, although at this time mostly worked by the Corporation. The full route Highlands Boulevard to Thorpe Bay was 25A and 25B, the numbers 25, 25C and 25D being used for various short workings. A Westcliff Bristol KSW stands on the opposite side of the road.
