Former Salford City Transport Training Bus 98, BBA560, an AEC Regent with Park Royal H36/22R body, new in 1940 as no. 235 and withdrawn as early as 1948 for conversion into its new role.
By the time this photo was taken BBA 560 had been acquired for preservation and was normally stored at the former SCTD Weaste depot. On this occasion it had been brought over to Frederick Road depot for attention and is seen here in the yard ticking over in its own smoky haze. Many years later, having changed ownership, it was magnificently restored into its original red and off white prewar livery, and I believe now resides at the Manchester Transport Museum. Definitely my kind of bus.
