Salford 285, MRJ285F, was a Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 with Metro Cammell H43/33F body new in April 1968, the third of a batch of 21 delivered over two months.
It's nominally SELNEC Central as indicated by fleet number 3131, but more than three years after takeover Salford staff have remarkably been able to retain own livery still free of advertisements and with coat of arms.
Assuming not returned to paint shop, this image may assist better dating of a popular Museum of Transport photo which forms an interesting contrast. The bus itself passed to Greater Manchester PTE on 1 April 1974 and served until October 1981.
