Southdown Short bodied Tilling-Stevens B10A2 600, UF4300, in a different position at the rear of Portslade Works in 1946 so we can now see the offside.
Jammed in between 2 TD1s is 971, AUF971, a 1934 Leyland TD3/Short H26/24R. The TD1s are two of the 1929 Brush O27/24RO bodied batch UF4801-23 all of which were fitted with canvas tops by October 1941 to make them more suitable for year round use. The following 54 TD1s delivered to Southdown in 1929 and 1930 had enclosed top Leyland bodies, so quite why the initial batch were open toppers is open to question. Short had worked out how to put tops on by the time of the 1931 batch of 55 Short highbridge bodied TD1s.
